Wellness Dentistry in Shelby Township, MI

Wellness dentistry is an integrative, patient-centered approach to oral care that goes beyond "just fixing teeth" and supports whole-body health. Often called holistic or biological dentistry, this model focuses on how your mouth affects the rest of your body and uses biocompatible, non-toxic materials and safe techniques to reduce your overall toxic load. We collaborate with functional and medical providers when needed and design integrative treatment plans that support your total wellness, considering nutrition, sleep, stress, and lifestyle habits. Your hygiene visits become true wellness appointments, where we work to prevent disease, reduce harmful bacteria linked to chronic conditions, and help you feel confident in a healthy smile you're proud to share.

Saliva Testing

Saliva testing is one of the core tools we use in our holistic, biological, and integrative approach to dentistry. Your saliva is constantly bathing your teeth and gums, so by studying it closely we can identify high-risk bacteria, signs of inflammation, and underlying imbalances that may be driving decay, gum disease, bad breath, or even systemic health issues. Instead of guessing, we look for the root cause and then create a truly personalized treatment plan and home-care protocol for you: targeted therapies, specific hygiene products, nutritional support, and preventive measures that match your unique oral microbiome and health history. This means your care is not cookie-cutter, it's tailored to your body, your risks, and your goals.

Ozone Therapy

In our office, we use dental ozone therapy as a powerful, non-invasive way to disinfect, heal, and protect your teeth and gums. Ozone gas and ozonated water are super effective against decay-causing bacteria like Strep mutans, as well as fungi and viruses, while also stimulating blood circulation and your natural immune response in the tooth. We use ozone in many procedures in restorative dentistry, periodontal therapy, surgical care, and endodontic (root canal) prevention to thoroughly disinfect teeth before sealing them, reduce sensitivity, support remineralization, and lower the risk of recurrent decay. For patients, that means cleaner, safer dentistry, fewer invasive treatments in the future, and stronger, more comfortable teeth.

Curodont

Curodont uses biomimetic peptide technology to repair early-stage cavities from within, without drilling, needles, or fillings. A specially designed peptide penetrates deep into the damaged enamel, reaching areas that surface treatments alone cannot access. Once inside, it self-assembles into a three-dimensional scaffold that attracts calcium and phosphate minerals and organizes them to rebuild the tooth's structure at a microscopic level, guiding the enamel to regenerate in a way that closely mirrors its own natural formation process. The result is a single-visit treatment that restores strength and density to weakened enamel while preserving 100% of your natural tooth structure. It's tasteless, non-staining, and requires no downtime or recovery. For cavities caught too early to justify a filling but too advanced to reverse on their own, it represents one of the more scientifically sophisticated options available in modern preventive dentistry.

Completely BPA-Free Fillings

Most dental composites are made primarily from plastic-based resins. At our practice, we use Admira Fusion, a restorative material composed primarily of ceramic rather than plastic. Its filler and resin matrix are both derived from silicon oxide, the same base material found in quartz and sand, rather than from petroleum-based compounds. As a result, Admira Fusion does not contain the classic plastic monomers, including BPA, that are present in most conventional composites, making it a more biocompatible option for restorative treatment. This ceramic-based composition also allows the material to bond to the tooth with minimal shrinkage, reducing stress on the tooth structure and lowering the likelihood of post-treatment sensitivity. It maintains its color and strength over time as well. Restorative materials of this kind remain uncommon in general dentistry and reflect a broader commitment to non-toxic, biocompatible care as a standard of treatment, rather than an occasional alternative.
