Aida Rosenthal
Dentist
Hi, I'm Dr. Aida Rosenthal, and I'm the owner of GloWell Dental. I graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry in 2016, and after that, I completed my residency in upstate New York, where I really enjoyed the nature. Then my husband and I decided to move back to Michigan to start a family and raise our first son, Anthony. I've been in Michigan since 2018.
I've been working all over the Detroit metro area while I was on maternity leave, just temping and learning. I experienced a lot of different dentistry throughout the whole metro Detroit area. I worked in Grosse Pointe for the majority of that time, and then I started working in Shelby Township right up until I opened my own office right here in Shelby Township.
Why did I decide to be a dentist?
I am often asked why I decided to be a dentist, and to be honest with you, I think dentistry decided for me. I actually tried to run away from dentistry my whole life. My grandfather always wanted me to be a dentist. I don't know why, but that's just how it went in my family. Every time before people went to a dentist, they would ask me, "What do you think I should do with my teeth?" And as a kid, I would just guess. I'd say, "Oh, you gotta take that tooth out, put a crown on this tooth." And then they would all come back and say, "You were right. They did exactly what you told me." Obviously, I realize now that they lied to me, but as a kid, I thought I had a special talent.
However, it was a lot of schooling, and I didn't want to do it. I went in a little bit of a different direction at first. But growing up in the Soviet Union, we didn't have a very good perspective on dentistry. We didn't go for checkups, we didn't go for cleanings, it was just not a thing back then. We only went when something hurt. So obviously, we had bad emotions attached to the profession.
Once I moved to the United States and was exposed to a completely different side of dentistry, I realized what a beautiful profession it is. I realized that I can change someone's life just like my dentist here changed mine. And the more time I spent in the dental chair fixing something from back home that was done many, many years ago, the more I realized that this field is just unbelievable. Every day you can learn, every day you can help someone, and every day you can prevent someone from going through the same journey that I had to go through.
What is my favorite part of being a dentist?
My favorite part of being a dentist is talking to people, connecting with people, and trying to help people who are looking for help, or just laughing with people who want to laugh. People, 100%.
What do I do outside of work?
Outside of work, I'm very busy with my two boys. I have an 8-year-old and a 2-year-old, so usually my free time goes there. But if I do get any free time, I love fitness. It's my passion. I like everything holistic, non-toxic, all this good stuff. Just living the best lifestyle we can. That's my biggest passion, and that's what I'm trying to bring to my office as well.
What are some of my favorite aspects of dentistry?
Some of my favorite aspects of dentistry are definitely prevention first. I love preventing problems rather than fixing them. With that being said, I also love helping people who are now trying to get back to being healthy and taking care of their teeth. I like big changes. If you come to me with a big problem, we're going to come up with a big solution. And that's what brings me the most joy.
What training and memberships do I have?
I love learning. I'm a little bit of a nerd, in and outside of my profession. I go to a lot of continuing education classes. I travel all around the country to expand my knowledge and my skills. I have extensive training in cosmetic dentistry, veneers, bonding, and clear aligners. I completed multiple hours of education in laser dentistry, so I can do frenectomies and gum lifts.
We can also help you with some snoring issues with my laser. I am a member of the Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT) and IABDM. I constantly learn about the connection between the body and the mouth, or oral health. I'm certified in ozone therapy in the office.

Dr. Aida Rosenthal’s journey into dentistry began long before dental school—it started with her own difficult childhood experiences growing up in Russia. Dental visits were rare, typically only happening when something hurt, and preventive care simply wasn’t part of life. When she moved to the United States in 2007, she discovered a completely different side of dentistry: one grounded in prevention, education, and compassion. That experience changed her perspective—and ultimately inspired her to become the kind of dentist she wished she had growing up.
After arriving in the U.S. at age 20, Dr. Rosenthal attended community college before continuing on to Wayne State University, University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, and completing a residency in upstate New York.
Dr. Rosenthal is especially passionate about cosmetic dentistry, with veneers being her favorite treatment to provide. She loves seeing the confidence that patients gain when their smiles finally reflect how they feel on the inside. At the same time, she believes deeply in doing dentistry the right way. Not rushing treatment, not recommending procedures she isn’t comfortable with, and never pushing patients into plans that don’t suit them.
Outside the office, Dr. Rosenthal is a fitness lover, a self-described nerd who listens to lots of podcasts, and someone who enjoys a low-tox lifestyle and buying organic foods from local farms. Her life revolves around her two sons (ages 8 and 2), the outdoors, and spending time with friends.
